The 2000 ZX-9R is an updated version of the 1998 redesign, with a higher 12.2:1 compression ratio, a revised Ram Air intake and a dual-headlight fairing. Chassis changes stiffened the frame, moved the steering head forward and fitted ball-bearing head bearings. The page describes it as a more focused and lighter version of the big Kawasaki sportbike.
